Dr. Naveed Mumtaz is presently working as Classified Rehabilitation Specialist at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Bahawalpur which caters patients from all over Southern Punjab and Sindh Province. Dr. Naveed is also a Quality Management Representative (QMR) at the hospital and is actively involved in surveillance audit of the institute. Prior to his current appointment, he served as a Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the prestigious Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM) for two years. Throughout his stay at AFIRM, he remained actively involved in training and teaching of Residents, Nursing Officers, Nursing Assistants and Physiotherapists for Class I and II training under Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) Rawalpindi. Soon after the devastating earth quake in October 2005, there was a huge turnout of individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries at AFIRM requiring acute rehabilitation. Dr. Naveed and other Physiatrists ran courses and provided hands on training to general duty doctors and nursing staff in spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Dr. Naveed is a graduate of Rawalpindi Medical College and completed his Internship in 1990 at Rawalpindi General Hospital and Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi. He joined Pakistan Army in 1992 and later completed his residency at Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM). He passed the exit exam in 2003 to become the Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS). In 2007, he underwent advanced training in Spinal Cord Injury at Swiss Paraplegic Center, Switzerland and Amputee Rehabilitation at Amputee Rehabilitation Center, Switzerland. In 2011, he completed his Masters in Pain Medicine from Riphah University Islamabad earning a Gold Medal in the subject. Dr.Naveed was also selected in 2014 for Observer Program in post-trauma rehabilitation at IRT (Intensive Rehabilitation Team) Western Clinic Lavarack Australia. Dr. Naveed had the privilege of hosting the visits of local and foreign delegates during his appointment at AFIRM including visits by the Chief of Army Staff and Australian Surgeon General. He also played a pivotal role in organizing sports events at AFIRM for individuals with disabilities held in 2012. Dr. Naveed also serves as an Examiner at College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan for FCPS II exam in PMR. He is a reviewer for Rawal Medical Journal, Pakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal, Journal of Dow University of Health Sciences and Journal of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan
