Dr. Omer Jamshed Khan
Dr. Omer Jamshed Khan is Assistant Professor and Consultant Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College and Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Muzaffarabad. He is an alumnus of Aitcheson College Lahore and Army Medical College Rawalpindi from where he did his High school and MBBS respectively. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine culminating in a Fellowship degree (FCPS) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. Later, he did his Masters (MSc) in Pain medicine from Riphah university Islamabad. He has also received advanced training in Amputee Rehabilitation from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia.
Dr. Omer has given numerous presentations and conducted seminars and conferences as well. He won a research grant from Shifa Hospital Islamabad for research in neurorehabilitation and went on to win the best oral and poster presentation awards at the World Neurology Day at Shifa Hospital. He also won the best oral presentation award at the 2nd International Rehab Conference held at AFIRM in 2015. His article on osteoporosis was awarded a cash prize in 2011. He has conducted teacher’s training program on ‘Integrated Education’ for children with disabilities under the auspices of the Federal Directorate of Special Persons. Dr. Omer has completed ‘Hospital Preparedness for Emergencies (HOPE)’ course, developed by Stanford University. He frequently conducts workshops on various topics. His notable workshops are on communication and presentation skills. He is also a lead auditor for ISO 9001:2008 certification.
Dr. Omer was stationed in Peshawar in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province of Pakistan where his department served as the watershed for most civilian and military injuries in the war against terror. He has considerable experience in the Electrodiagnostics of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and Poliomyelitis which are prevalent in KPK province.
