Dr. Syed Hussain Shah is a young PMR specialist who is currently working in war affected areas of South Waziristan .He is not only providing basic health care and emergency trauma services in remote areas but also working with civil and military authorities for uplift and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons. He graduated from Army Medical College. He has worked for 2 years in glaciated northern mountainous region of Pakistan dealing mostly with high altitude diseases, frost bites and amputations. He gained rich experience in exercise physiology and sports injuries during his long tenure in Pakistan Military Academy Kakul. He completed his training in 2014 and cleared his FCPS in PM&R in 2015. Dr. Hussain developed passion for rehabilitation in early child hood as his father was injured in 1971 war. He also worked as volunteer in 2005 earthquake and realized importance of rehabilitation medicine. He has given numerous presentations and conducted seminars and conferences as well. He won a research grant from Shifa International Hospital Islamabad for research in neurorehabilitation and went on to win the best oral and poster presentation awards at the World Neurology Day at Shifa Hospital. His article on osteoporosis was awarded a cash prize in 2011.
