Dr. Amjad Hussain
MBBS, FCPS, Dip. Cardiac Rehab (U.K), MSc
Dr. Amjad Hussain is currently working as Classified Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine and Cardiac Rehabilitation at Combined Military Hospital, Lahore. He is one of first locally trained physiatrists who completed their training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Pakistan. Dr. Amjad has a special interest in medical aspects of disability and is the first to introduce specialized cardiac rehabilitation in the country.
Dr. Amjad Hussain is a graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College and completed his internship at Services Hospital Lahore in 1989. He has been attached with Pakistan Army Medical Corps since 1992. After completing his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM), he passed the exit exam in 2001 to become the Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS) and was appointed as Specialist in the same department from 2002-2005. Later, he did a clinical attachment in Medicine at Hope Hospital (NHS) in Manchester, United Kingdom. In 2006, he went to Saudi Arabia and worked as Assistant Consultant at King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh for four years. On his return to Pakistan, he continued as Classified Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine and Cardiac Rehabilitation in Pakistan Armed Forces at various medical facilities. During his deputation abroad, he continued his professional development and passed licensing exams in United Kingdom, and completed a Diploma in Cardiac Rehabilitation from Chester University. On his return to Pakistan, he did Masters in Pain Medicine (MSc) from Riphah University Islamabad in 2013.
Dr. Amjad has been examiner at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He has also assessed the dissertations and thesis for FCPS trainees. He enjoys a great passion for teaching medical students, residents and students of allied health sciences. He has conducted various audits locally and abroad and has held administrative positions during his career. He is currently the Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Combined Military Hospital Lahore as well.
Dr. Amjad is one of the first trainees at Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM). The first batch of residents made substantial contributions in streamlining the infrastructure at the institute when it was in the initial phases of development.
He enjoys reading, travelling and gardening.
