Dr. Muhammad Fahim
Dr. Muhammad Fahim is working as Consultant and Head Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at KRL (Khan Research Laboratories) Hospital Islamabad. He has established the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at KRL Hospital which provides both indoor and outdoor medical rehabilitative services and includes a division for electrodiagnostics as well. All allied rehabilitation disciplines at KRL are working under the umbrella of this department.
Dr. Fahim graduated from Khyber Medical College Peshawar in 2007 and completed his Internship at Khyber Teaching Hospital and Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. He did his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM) and passed the exit exam in 2013 to become the Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS). He secured first position in FCPS exit examination and was awarded Gold medal in the discipline of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He received this award from the President of Pakistan, at the 48th convocation of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. Subsequently, he worked as Assistant Consultant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh for few months.
Dr. Muhammad Fahim is the first Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the KPK province (Khyber Pukhtun Khwah). He has been actively involved in promoting the specialty regionally by visiting local medical colleges and doing introductory presentations about PMR. He did a similar presentation at a National Conference attended by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. His presentation titled “Introduction and Evolution of PM&R in Pakistan” is available on the link www.hhrd.org. Dr. Fahim advocates the idea of interacting with other medical disciplines and has started to engage with them. In October 2015, he was invited speaker at annual conference of Pakistan Paediatric Association. Currently, he is actively involved in teaching residents from Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at KRL hospital. He has also taught at the Institute of Prosthesis and Orthotics at Paraplegic Center Peshawar and participated in organizing different research workshops and seminars. He was the first in PMR to secure first prize at the Annual Shifa Neurology Conference. While at AFIRM, Dr. Fahim was actively involved in establishing the stroke rehabilitation clinic.
